Sri Lankan Premier League to convince BCCI for Indian players entry | SLPL 2011 Teams List

Sri Lanka Cricket, the governing body of cricket in Sril Lanka, has claimed that the Sri Lankan Premier League is controlled by the cricket board for convincing BCCI. Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) prevented 12 players from playing the SLPL suspecting that is is completely run by a private body. Fast bowlers Praveen Kumar, Munaf Patel, Irfan Pathan and off spinner Ravivhandran Ashwin were the few players among the 12.

In an exclusive interview to ESPNcricinfo, SLC's secretary Nishantha Ranatunga said, 'This tournament is approved by SLC. And Somerset are the marketing arm, having won the rights through a tender process. Nobody can say it is owned by Somerset'.
Unlike the IPL, all the SLPL teams are owned by SLC (Sri Lanka Cricket). The SLPL is expected to bring in more money for the board and for this they badly need Indian and other foreign players to take part in the league. BCCI President Shashank Manohar said, that Indian players will not be taking part in the SLPL as t is run by a private body.
According to a news report in The Sunday leader, 'Financially bankrupt SLC is to commission the army, navy and air force to help it maintain three cricket stadiums - Sooriyawewa, Kettarama and Pallekele. SLC has been rocked by allegations of fraud and short-sighted management policies including political interference that has led to its current predicament.'

'We need to explain the matter to the BCCI and whatever the concerns that they have, we need to give them an explanation.
