Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar was born in Mumbai on April 24, 1973. His father Ramesh was a novelist, and a young Sachin was encouraged to play cricket by his older brother Ajit. Tendulkar began his cricketing career at Sharadashram Vidyamandir High School, under the guidance of his coach and mentor, Ramakant Achrekar.
Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar will not travel to Mysore on April 10 to accept the honorary doctorate to be conferred to him by the University of Mysore at its annual convocation.
In a letter to vice-chancellor of the University, Prof V G Talwar, Tendulkar's wife Anjali Tendulkar thanked him for proposing to honour her husband with an honorary doctorate degree but said the champion batsman has decided not to accept honorary doctorates while being active in cricket.
